Transforming Lives: The Connection Between Cerebral Palsy and Intensive Therapy

physical therapy treatment for cerebral palsy

Parenting is never easy especially when you have a child with Cerebral Palsy or other neurological disorders. Identifying the symptoms of this condition earlier often leads to starting intensive therapy which actually helps a child progress quickly!

There are many cases where experienced therapists have witnessed how tailored intensive therapy can make a huge difference in the lives of children with CP.

Hello parents, we are Hope AMC, UAE’s one of the most prestigious and dedicated pediatric rehabilitation clinics. Our board-certified therapists have been offering targeted therapeutic treatment to children with CP, Autism, Down syndrome, and other neurological and mental conditions for many years.

Dealing with several parents (who are stressed, confused, or sometimes clueless about the right treatment of their children), we discovered that many of them do not actually know the importance of pediatric intensive therapy in treating CP.

So, what is the connection between cerebral palsy and intensive therapy?

Well, the term “cerebral” basically refers to the brain and “palsy” indicates weakness or difficulty with movement. So, children with CP often have abnormal development or damage to the brain. Because of this, the child does not have the ability to control their muscles. This condition can impact movement, muscle control, and balance.

When can a child have this condition? It can happen before the birth, during childbirth, or shortly after the child is born. CP needs immediate attention. If not treated on time, it can affect the motor abilities of a child as they grow up.

Intensive therapy can make a real difference for children with CP. Unlike standard therapy which may take place just once a week, intensive therapy involves more frequent sessions, which helps children work towards their goals more consistently. When families are involved in the process, progress often happens faster because everyone is working together to support the child.

Now, an intensive therapy program is usually designed by a certified therapist which aims to improve the physical ability as well as the emotional and cognitive development of the kids.

Why Does Intensive Therapy Matter?

Intensive therapy matters a lot for treating CP and other neurological conditions. Intensive if totally different from standard therapy that may take place just once a week. Intensive as the name suggests may occur for 3 consecutive weeks and the program is divided into five daily sessions every week.

These sessions can last around 2 to 6 hours each day. If we talk about our specially designed therapy plan, our therapists design it based on various factors like age, requirements, specific condition, strength and weakness level of the child.

A major portion of the therapy time is given to preparing the child for the particular exercises or tasks. Our intensive physiotherapy program in Dubai has helped many children to improve their balance, stamina, and functional skills. This intensive physical therapy also strengthens the muscles to make the child independent in performing activities like walking, standing, sitting, crawling, kneeling, etc.

No doubt, starting intensive therapy as quickly as possible often leads to significant improvement in motor abilities in children.  This therapy is effective on children from three months old to any age. The faster it starts, the better the outcome!

How Do We Support Kids and Families
